Articles of Faith
I. The Scriptures
The Bible is the inerrant Word of God given to men, as led by the Holy Spirit. As 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV) says, “16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”.
II. The Holy Trinity
There is only one God, consisting of three distinct equal persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. - Matthew 3:16-17, & 28:19, John 1:1, 5:23, & 10:30, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 John 4:8
III. God the Father
We believe in the one triune God who is omniscient, omnipotent, and sovereign Lord over all. God the Father the first person of the Trinity is our eternal loving, merciful, gracious, and perfect Father. God is not someone who grants our wishes or a distant being that has no part in the lives of people on earth. Rather God the Father loves His children, those who are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and directs and guides them through His Holy Spirit as we follow His will, so that we may progressively reflect Him, being holy as He is Holy. - Genesis 1:1, John 4:24, & 14:9, Psalm 18:30, & 135:6
IV. Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity. Jesus is eternal and therefore has existed as and with God before creation. Jesus chose to become a man, being born of a virgin birth by the power of the Holy Spirit, so that He could fulfill the law by His life, death, burial, and resurrection. Jesus is fully God, and fully man. Jesus after His resurrection ascended to heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father until His second coming when He will gather believers, and destroy His enemies. - Matthew 20:28, John 1:1, & 3:16, Hebrews 4:14, 2 Thessalonians 2:8
V. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, works in, on, and through the believer. Believers are born again, through the Holy Spirit who then indwells, empowers, guides, teaches, and sanctifies believers. - John 3:5, & 14:26, Titus 3:5, 1 Corinthians 6:11, & 6:19, & 12:13, Ephesians 3:16, & 4:30, Romans 8:14,
VI. Creation and the Fall.
We believe that God created everything, as described in Genesis. Meaning that God created the heavens, the earth, and mankind. Therefore, humans are not the byproduct of special adaptation or evolution but are created by God in the image/likeness of God. Humans were originally created to worship God, have relationship with God, and steward creation. However, as the result of Adam and Eve’s sin, this world and all born into it now live in a “fallen” world, because through that sin, sin entered the world along with suffering, and death. This is why Jesus came so that we may be reconciled, with God through the forgiveness of sin. - Genesis 1:26-28, 2:7, 3:1-24, & 5:3, Matthew 19:4, & 19:26, Mark 7:21-23, John 8:42-44, 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Ephesians 2:3, & 4:18, Romans 1:18, 3:19, 3:23, 5:12 & 7:18.
VII. Sin & Salvation
Since sin entered the world through the first humans, Adam and Eve, every human since has been born into a “fallen world” and into sin. Therefore, since we have all sinned, and could do nothing to reconcile ourselves with God, Jesus Christ laid down His life on the cross to pay our debt to sin and reconcile us with the Father. There is only one way to be forgiven for sin and be saved and that is by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. - John 3:16, & 14:6, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Timothy 4:10.
VIII. The Church
The Church is not a building or particular organization but rather all those who have been saved by Christ Jesus. We believe that Jesus founded the Church, which was then carried on by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Apostles. The church is the “body of Christ” for service in this life, and the “Bride of Christ” for His glory in eternity. The church shall remain serving as the hands and feet of Christ, until His second coming. We believe as Scripture states that Christ is the Head of the church. - Matthew 16:18, Acts 1:8; 2:1-3, & 41-47, Romans 16:26
IX. The Devil
We believe that the devil/satan, otherwise known as lucifer is a fallen angel that was cast from heaven because of prideful rebellion against God. Upon being cast from Heaven lucifer has waged war against God by attacking, perverting, abusing, corrupting, and destroying that which He (God) created. It was for this reason that lucifer sought to deceive Adam and Eve, and all humans thereafter. We also believe that although lucifer is presently active in this world to corrupt the truth and counteract the Gospel. When Christ returns, He will destroy the devil, demons, and all His enemies once and for all. - Ezekiel 28:13-17, Rev 12:11, & 20:10, Luke 22:31-32, Job 1:1-22, John 12:31-32, Ephesians 6:12-18
